OVERBY, BASIL EARL (1848-1914)

BASIL EARL OVERBY
These records are copies of records taken from the Bible of Basil Earl Overby, who lived at Watkinsville, Georgia, an affidavit is attached, that they are correct, and the Bible is a very old volume. The entries were made many years ago.
These records are in the possession of Mrs. Maude Dowd Thompson, of Ty Ty, Ga.

Nicholas Overby, the first, came from Paris, France to Va., Born in 1622, died in 1732, aged 110 years. Raised three sons; Nicholas, Obediah and Peter of Virginia. Peter and wife, Ann Overby, from records of the Episcopal Church, Bristol, Va. Son Nicholas, born 1649, died 1755, aged 106.
Nicholas, son of Peter, raised three sons, Meshack, Shedrick and Druiry.
Meshack Overby, born 1753, died 1841, aged 88 yrs. Raised three sons, Minrod who lived to be 85, Nicholas who lived to be 84, and Benjamin, aged 84.
Meshack Overby married Mary Mitchell of Virginia.
Nicholas, son of Mechack, was born Jan. 20, 1784, died 1868; raised three sons; Basil, Hallum, Benjamin Mitchell; and John Basil Earl. Nicholas Overby was born in Va., was brought by his parents to S. C., Abbeville Dist. In Oct. 1787. Left S. C. Mar. 18, 1868.
Mary Hallum, wife of Nicholas Overby was born Feb. 3, 1783.
Nicholas Overby married Mary Hallum Jan. 10, 1814.
Mary Hallum Overby died Nov. 4, 1862.

Basil Hallum, born Oct. 19, 1814.
Ann Elizabeth, born Jan. 12, 1816.
Benjamin Mitchell, born Sept. 18, 1818.
John B. born Jan. 8, 1821.
Basil Hallum Overby married Arsenath Thrasher May 18, 1837.

Annie Olivia, born Nov. 25, 1840.
Mary Frances, born Jan. 12, 1842.
Nicholas N. born Feb. 12, 1844.
Barton A. born Mar. 5, 1846.
Basil Earl, born May 5, 1848.
Arsenath C., born June 29, 1851.
Basil Hallum Overby married second wife, E. S. Haralson, June 27, 1854 They had one son, Hugh Haralson, born at La Grange, Ga. Oct. 27, 1855.

DEATHS
Arsenath C. Overby, first wife of Basil Hallum Overby, died June 1st, 1853, in Atlanta, Ga.
Basil Hallum Overby died at Williamston Springs, S. C., Nov. 27, 1859.
Basil Earl Overby, son of Basil Hallum Overby, died at Watkinsville, Ga. Oct. 26, 1914.
John Basil Earl Overby, son of Nicholas and Mary Overby, died in Thomasville, Ga. May 14, 1854.
Benjamin Mitchell Overby, son of Nicholas and Mary Overby, died Nov. 17, 1891.
Ann Olivia LeMar Middlebrooks, daughter of Basil and Arsenath Overby, died Aug. 5, 1903.
Baron H., son of Basil H. and Arsenath Overby, died Aug. 8, 1908.
